Academic Standards Overview
The Academic Standards Framework defines the learning outcomes, competencies, and indicators that guide the educational experience within the Programme. It is derived from and aligned with the Whole Student Development Model and with academic standards recognised in the United States of America. These standards are meant to provide detailed academic standards that contribute not only to knowledge acquisition, but also to wisdom, character, stewardship, service, community engagement, and purposeful living.
Subject Areas
Learning Outcomes Organised Across Nine Subjects
Outcomes are organised by ISCED grade bands (0–3) and across these key subject areas. The UNESCO ISCED framework groups education into five broad stages. For our purposes, we use ISCED 0 (Early Childhood), ISCED 1 (Primary Education), ISCED 2 (Lower Secondary Education), and ISCED 3 (Upper Secondary Education). Curriculum Mapping Approach
Rather than prescribing a specific curriculum, the Programme’s framework enables schools to use their existing national, regional, or locally developed curricula while demonstrating alignment to internationally recognised learning expectations. Schools map their curriculum to the Programme’s standards, providing evidence that all required outcomes are being met.
Each curriculum guide includes a philosophy of the discipline, essential questions and accompanying answers, links to academic standards and the Graduate Profile, and practical mapping tools. Dedicated columns allow schools to document how their curriculum, lessons, and assessments align with the Programme’s framework, creating a clear pathway for implementation and accountability.
